Thank you to the Evergreen club for helping kids learn about old bikes! It is such an amazing thing to be involved with!
We are down to one lone GearHead, Jack. He has worked hard to get the bike this far with the help of our own Evergreen member Mike W.
Mike has taken time out of his schedule to come work with Jack during the day to assemble the Triumph and teach him about proper repair techniques on the old iron.
Jack completed the awesome paint work on the 71 TR6C in late May to return it to it's former glory which is as close to stock as we could reasonably get it. It will be done in time for the American Legion swap meet July 14th for sure and maybe early enough for the small bore roar July 7th. Some days I struggle with only one students working on the Triumph, but in the bigger scheme of things, it is totally worth it! Some of the other students have watched the process, asked good questions, and maybe they will remember this one day in the future when they want a motorcycle. This is another success for the Evergreen chapter! Stay tuned for the finished bike!!!! It is a LOOKER!
Sorry for the late update but life.......
As you can see the bike is a pile of parts awaiting paint, polish and parts. These kids are having fun and work hard on this Triumph. Take a look. As always if you want to swing by and take a look or help these kids learn, contact me and we'll make it happen.
A fresh school year is upon us and we get to start a new bike, literally! Three students were able to make the first after school meeting of the Gearheads club and we had a hoot. We started it to make sure it ran, came up with a game plan, then we started bagging and tagging bits and pieces we removed. I'll tell you watching students start a kick only motorcycle for the first time is awesome!! See for yourself!
